2013 Symposium

3RD NZBERS SYMPOSIUM

MAKING HOUSING AFFORDABLE IN NEW ZEALAND: POLICIES, STRATEGIES AND ACTION PLANS

Tuesday 26 March 2013

Atrium Round, Atrium Building, East Precinct, Massey University, Gate 1, Albany Expressway, Albany

The 3rd New Zealand Built Environment Symposium (NZBERS) was held on Tuesday 26 March 2013 on the Massey University’s Albany Campus. The focus of this symposium was somewhat different from the usual emphasis on bringing together the built environment researchers in the NZ universities to share ideas and work collaboratively with industry practitioners along areas of mutual research interests.

This time around, the symposium aimed to further Massey University’s strategy of active engagement with stakeholders to gain better understanding of, and respond proactively to, national issues of critical importance, which are within our areas of expertise. The Built Environment cluster within the School of Engineering and Advanced Technology (SEAT) widened its scope of expertise in building and construction with increasing number of researchers who are passionate about contributing to the resolution of societal problems. Housing affordability was selected for attention due to the growing issues around it, especially for the first-home seekers.
