The sixth NZBERS symposium was hosted by the School of Built Environment, Massey University in 2020. The one-day symposium focused on the topic: Transforming New Zealand construction industry through innovation and performance improvement.
Fifth NZBERS symposium was hosted by Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in 2017. The two-day symposium provided the platform to continue the collaboration among the New Zealand Universities, industry key role players and policy makers.
Forth NZBERS symposium held in November 2014 invited keynote speakers from industry chieftains and decision-makers in government departments. Built environment programme leaders in the New Zealand universities presented summaries of the current and recently completed built environment research by research students and academic staff in their units.

The first New Zealand Built Environment Research Symposium was held in September 2013 at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. Four New Zealand universities participated in the inaugural symposium: Auckland University of Technology, Massey University, University of Auckland and UNITEC.
